American Goverment is a  class will explore the structure, funtioning, citizen rights and responsibilities of our U.S. goverment.       

This course will introduce students to the spanish speaking world. Students will build their speaking and writing skills throughout the year.

Studio Photography covers photo as an art, photo history, the functions of the camera, camera handling, proper exposure, lighting techniques, types of film, film processing, printing, mounting, print display, and creative processes. Instruction includes use and care of cameras, film processing techniques, composition, darkroom printing techniques, portraiture techniques, and lighting techniques with emphasis on skills needed in commercial applications. Students explore careers in photography. A manually adjustable 35mm SLR camera is needed for this course.

 Design offers an intensive study in specialized topics designed for the student who is seriously interested in further developing their breadth of experience in formal, technical, and expressive areas.  Emphasis will be placed on individual work, a concentration in a specific area, and new media. Participation in two public art shows, community service projects and college portfolio preparation are required. This class will help satisfy the academic humanities graduation requirement. Students may also earn CSI credit for an additional fee.

This course is an exploration of the elements and principles of design using digital media to solve visual problems. Still images will be developed, printed, copied, edited and/or projected in a studio environment or presentation format. Students will use digital cameras, scanners and graphic editing software to acquire graphic file formats, formulate concepts, and then digitally manipulate the images to accomplish tasks. Students may earn CSI credit for an additional fee

Pottery 1 is an introductory course in which students will learn to work in clay as a three-dimensional art form. Basic hand construction, methods of pinching, coiling and slab will be taught and utilized in sculptural or vessel forms. Decorating and glazing methods will be explored.

Pottery/Sculpture II is an extension of the introductory pottery course with emphasis placed on individual interpretations and creative outcomes drawn from an assignment list. Three Dimensional projects will include sculpture as well as a variety of traditional shapes and functional forms in a variety of mediums. Wheel throwing will be introduced.

Pottery/Sculpture III/IV sections are independent study programs in which students create and complete their assignments according to a contracted syllabus subject to instructor approval. Experimentation will be encouraged, as will works of depth and complexity. Students may explore an area of concentration or attempt a variety of self-generated projects in several mediums.

Survey of Art is designed for students who would like to explore their creative potential and gain an appreciation and awareness for the visual arts. It is a project-based, hands-on adventure exploring eras, cultures and the elements and principles of art. Travel with your fellow students through time and create your own works in a multitude of styles. This class will help satisfy the academic humanities graduation requirement.

Students enrolled in this course will learn the fundamentals of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and their vital relationship to each other. Students will distinguish the use of HTML and CSS as to content and presentation. Students will demonstrate knowledge of W3C compliant websites.

Course covers current and emerging computer technologies. Students are presented with the underlying principles of technologies that have an impact on our lives and how those principles are related to real-world activities. By focusing on the application of technology and how technology may be used by students for personal and professional gain.

This course is designed to teach the student the process of creating, designing, and posting a web page. Web page media will be developed for the World Wide Web using Macromedia Dreamweaver. The course will take the student from the initial design to the launching of the website.

Students will use the PHP scripting language to create web applications with database connectivity. The course includes a discussion of my SQL database management system and fundamental aspects of the Apache open-source web server.

Students will focus on the development of three video projects which include a short story, a commercial, and a final project of their choice. All projects will reflect technical concepts learned throughout the course. The course will give students practice with and knowledge of video compression and formats, video editing, and technique.
